Heritage advisor, Lillian Cullen is excited to see these grants offered again this year. “These funds have been made available for over ten years and in that time we have seen significant projects completed that give new life to our heritage buildings.
"With almost 300 heritage sites listed in the Manning Valley, we are very pleased that the NSW Heritage Branch is once again assisting us to make these grants available."
“These grants are like a helping hand and a great way to make a start on your renovation project, I am also happy to offer any advice I can to get people started,” said Lillian.
The grants offer assistance up to $1,000, but in some special cases up to $2,000 can be provided. Owners also need to show how they are contributing to the project, as the grant can’t be more than 50 percent of the total project cost.
Residents may have noticed the fresh coat of paint on the Beehive building in Victoria Street, repairs to the Catholic church in Taree, the Wingham RSL and the old brick bakery building at Mt George – all of these projects received financial assistance last year.
