Join the Lachlan Valley Railway and take a step back in time as you ride aboard the 1930s vintage, open-windowed compartment carriages hauled by a 1952-built 59 class steam locomotive.
The train is licensed so you may enjoy a tipple, and it is strictly no BYO.
The steam train will be on its way to the Coffs Harbour Centenary of Rail and Casino Beef Week celebrations.
The one-way train departs Taree at 1pm and arrives at 2.20pm, where a bus will meet the train for those wanting transport back to Taree.
Tickets are adults $30, seniors $20, and children 5-15 years $15 (children 4 and under free, but please note they will not hold a seat). Ticket includes bus fare for return trip from Wauchope to Taree.
You can purchase tickets online through www.lvr.com.au. If the train is not sold out, some tickets may be available for purchase at Taree Station on the day.
The opportunity to ride the steam train from Taree to Wauchope was organised by Barry Ruddell, of the Manning Valley Historical Society.
