In response to requests the competition is now also open to former residents, and temporarily absent residents, of the Greater Taree local government area if they have local or family connections and continue to identify with the area.
The competition closes on October 2. Guidelines and entry forms are available from Manning Valley libraries in Old Bar, Hallidays Point, Taree, Wingham, and Harrington, the Taree Literary Institute, the Wingham Services Club and the offices of the Wingham Chronicle and the Manning River Times.
Organizers are hoping for a range of entries in each of the three categories - poetry, short stories and anecdotes.
It is planned that selected entries will be published in a commemorative book to be launched in 2016.
The next free public writing workshop will be held at the Taree Uniting Church hall on Saturday, July 25, 2 pm - 4pm.
Book your place now by phoning 0427 712294 or just turn up on the day.
