Featuring this month is Dale and Sooze's new season ros wine from their Bulahdelah vineyard, Old Inn Road.
It is made from Chambourcin which is a French-hybrid grape variety used to make wine.
Whilst the exact parentage of the grape is uncertain we do know it was first grown in France around 1860 by Joannes Seyve in response to the devastation of the French wine industry from a disease called phylloxera.
The genetics of Chambourcin give it higher disease and pest resistance.
Dale Bradshaw from Old Inn Road Wine believes this makes Chambourcin the perfect grape for them.
"Because of its resistance to phylloxera and fungal diseases we don't have to spray our Chambourcin so it's naturally organic which is good for us and good for our customers."
The grape produces a rich-coloured, aromatic wine and this, says Dale makes it perfect for ros .
"Our 2015 Chambourcin Ros has just been released and it's a great example of what this variety can do," Dale said.
"Rose red in colour with a very fragrant rose petal and raspberry nose with hints of Turkish delight. A very delicate palate with lots of elegance showing ample red fruits and ripe berries."
If you haven't tried a Chambourcin Ros then come on out to the Wingham Farmer's Market and see Dale or Sooze at their Old Inn Road stall.
The amount of food stalls at the market is growing, as well as the fresh produce stalls. Come along and check them out!
This week marks the start of 'Plastic Free July' (www.plasticfreejuly.org), so it's a great time to practice the habit of bringing your own bags and a mug for a discount on Annette's delicious home grown homemade soup.
New stallholders are always welcome, with site fees waived at your first market.
Direct stall holder enquiries to Annette on 6550 7213.
Don't forget if you have any excess produce to sell, even from your backyard veggie patch, you can drop it at the community stall.
