The children have been having lessons from Elma See, a Scottish country dance teacher from Newcastle. Born in Scotland, Elma has been living in Australia for 50 years yet still retains her Scottish accent.
She charmed the kids, and answered an age old question, when she was asked by one of the children “Do the men wear shorts under their kilts?”
Elsa then declared that men might wear shorts or dark underpants under their kilts, unless they are soldiers.
She told them an anecdote of being at Edinburgh Castle and seeing the guards on duty. It was a very windy day. The wind caught a guard’s kilt and blew the back of it up, revealing a bare bottom. The guard, following protocol, did not move.
Imagine if you will this story, which Elsa swears is factual, told in a delicious Scottish accent!
