THURSDAY: Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery of a bakery at Wingham

Just after 2.30pm, a man entered a bakery on Bent Street, Wingham and purchased a drink from a female shop assistant.
It’s alleged as the employee was taking the payment from the man, he produced a knife and demanded money.
The armed man fled the scene, taking cash. The employee was uninjured during the incident.
Officers attached to Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command were notified and commenced investigations.
Following inquiries, about 9.50pm, police attended a home on Summerville Street, Wingham, were an 18-year-old man was arrested.
He was taken to Taree Police Station, where he was charged with robbery whilst armed, and refused bail, to appear at Forster Local Court today.
WEDNESDAY: Taree Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at McKeough’s Cake Shop in Bent Street, Wingham on Wednesday, May 27.
At approximately 2.35pm a male described as Caucasian, of slim build, around 180cm in height and wearing a coloured hoodie purchased and paid for a single item in the bakery.
While the cash register was open the man reached over and removed a sum of cash from the till. He then ran from the premises down a laneway to the rear of the shops.
The person in question was carrying a backpack and a sheathed knife. Although the shop assistant confronted by the man was aware of the knife, she was not directly threatened with it.
