Date correction for Talents on the Bulga
IT may have been the anticipation of the event, or simply an old girl losing the plot a bit, but I’d like to officially announce that the Bulga Hall fundraiser, “Talents on the Bulga” will take place this weekend in Elands, and not last weekend as advertised in the column last week. The good news is that if you thought you’d missed out, you haven’t, and the great night of family entertainment will kick off from 6pm this Saturday at the Bulga Memorial Hall. Dinner and dessert is included in your ticket, and you’ll be entertained with a variety of wonderful performers from as close as Elands and as far away as Germany. Join us for a warm Bulga welcome and some delicious grub this Saturday in Elands! For further information call 6550 4480.

Locals head up Dig deep for Dungog
ELANDERS Sharyn Brock and Heather Bray have taken a very active role in a fantastic initiative to assist flood affected Dungog. The movement goes by the name of “Dig Deep for Dungog” and focusses on getting donated fresh produce to the residents of Dungog, whose gardens were destroyed in the recent deluge. Although it’s faded from the news cycle, the situation in Dungog is still dire, with over 100 people made homeless by the disaster. This is a great way to let Dungog know that they have not been forgotten. Sharyn and Heather are part of a group who have been making fortnightly trips there to deliver produce and help establish new gardens in the wake of the devastated ones. All produce is welcome, be it as humble as a bunch of fresh herbs, and there are various drop off points in the Manning Valley where you can leave your donation. With all the recent rains many gardeners are experiencing bumper crops, so if you can spare a lettuce or two, or some citrus, or any surplus vegies or fruit, your contribution is truly appreciated. You’ll find more details on the “Dig Deep for Dungog” Facebook page and Sharyn can be contacted on 0439 270366.
Frackman to screen at Bulga Hall
IT’S rare for Alan Jones and Bob Brown to agree on anything, but they’re both fulsome in their praise for the film “Frackman” which we hope to screen at the Bulga Memorial Hall on Saturday June 13. Frackman is a documentary following the "accidental activist” Dane Pratzky, a Queensland pig farmer who mobilised against coal seam gas mining on his property. As we well know it’s becoming a battle that crosses ideological divides, uniting greens and political conservatives, and raising important questions about government influence and power over private landholdings, and the future of the Australian environment. In order to secure the screening, we must have a number of tickets bought in advance, so please purchase your tickets online at www.tug.com/events/21234 . We hope you will join us for this very important event.
