The tender was awarded at the Greater Taree City Council meeting last night, and represents the final component of works to be funded from the Greater Taree Roads and Bridges package. The package, which has included works to Manning Point Road, Dyers Crossing Bridge and Dickensons Bridge, consisted of Federal funding of $10 million and a $1.4 million Council contribution.
Phil Miles, Senior Leader Asset Planning said “Gloucester Road has been identified as an important regional road, and an alternate B-Double route for businesses in the area. While the works will involve disruption to traffic during reconstruction, the end result will provide a high standard road which will benefit all road users.”
Work is scheduled to commence in June/July and continue through to early 2016. Project planning has been undertaken to minimise disruption to traffic-flow, with the plan to retain at least one lane open to traffic at all times.
These works are part of our scheduled program to improve our local roads.
