Pennants
OUR No.1 grade at home came away with a very good win by 21 shots over Forster with all rinks getting up on Saturday. Steve Matheson and his men led all the way with a result of 22.12, while Tom Moore on his rink took control following the 10th end when they were level on eight shots each to win 21-14. Rex Dawson had a struggle with the lead changing a few times; however they managed to get five shots on the final three ends to win 18-14.

On Sunday they travelled to Tuncurry who had already won that section with the locals taking the match by 16 shots. They didn't have it all their way as Rex Dawson (with his old bowls), Laurie Mullen (the man of the rink), Howard Snelson and Peter Williams winning 22-20. In a fairly tight game Rex Johnson eventually got Tom Moore's team 19-14. Steve Matheson came up against Martin Gosper's team with the Tuncurry side wining 29-16.
The 4 grade travelled to Forster on Sunday and on a much faster green surface than at home an all rinks went down to the locals who obviously played better on their home surface. Graeme Walker on his rink did not get on the board until the sixth end and they were behind 10 shots at the halfway but did manage to win six of the remaining ends to eventually go down 22-16. John Black on his rink had similar issues however the locals only won more rink overall, but they had multiple scores on some ends to also win by six shots 18-12. Glenn Dennes, Graeme Ireland, Robert Allen and Snow Trenchard did not have a good day but they did win the final two ends to eventually go down 32-14.
The pennant season is not over for our club and a special mention to all those who contributed in any way to get the teams onto the greens each week. However the teams did reasonably well considering both went up a grade following winning district and other flags last year. It was a disappointment for a number of reserves who were available each weekend and a greater effort should be made next year to enter another grade and therefore give more players the experience of playing for our club.
Wednesday social
WINNING the day were Dallas Hammond, Ross Piggott and Allan Dodd with a 16-13 result over Col Hinton, Dick Connell and Peter Holden. Also winning by three shots but going down on a count back were Mal Cannon, tony Baker and Guy Watts against Brian Williams, Ben Wolters and Gerry De Pyper. Ian Furner, Mick Hollebone and Tim Richardson won 11-9 against Peter Williams, Andrew Leung and Jake Kennett.
Wednesday twilight
PETER Tutty playing with Hunter and Pat Payton won this event with their 17-8 result over Allan Dodd, Mick Harris and Peter Kriss who were the lucky runners-up. Peter Howarth, Tony Colchen and Jim Gillogly once again put it over Mark Hammond, Col McTaggart and David O'Donnell, this time 14-7. Glen Gilford and his partner Ian Furner were too strong for Mick Dawson and Snow Trenchard 17-12. In a great battle John Gillogly and Steven Matheson had a one shot win over Snorter Green and Tony Lowman.
Friday mixed
LODDY Dennes and Jim Gillogly with their +11 won the event against Ron Lollback and Janet Nash. Runners-up were Val Leeson and Glen Dennes also with a +11 against Peter Sontag and Chris Wiley. In other games Robyn Gillogly and Glen Gilford had a +8 against Allan Cox and Maureen Hollebone. John Black and Sonja Sontag had a +9 win over Peter Tutty and Lillian Cross. Mick Hollebone and Leonie Gilford got home a shot against George Floyd and Narelle Foy.
