The exhibition and fundraiser beginning on April 3 at Hannam Vale hall, has this year involved local schools in the exhibiting of local artists.
Hannam Vale, Moorland and Johns Rivers, public schools will have 80 students exhibiting their work over the weekend.
The children’s art will join 80 other artworks that have been submitted locally, creating an abundant showcase of local artists.
According to organiser Julienne Richardson, one of the most unique aspects of the exhibition is the art is judged by the viewers themselves.
“It’s a good way for artist’s to get kudos for their works, without being judged by a panel,” said Julienne.
There is a great mixture in techniques amongst artworks submitted, although local landscapes are often a popular theme.
“It’s nice for people in the area to see it captured in art.”
The exhibition will be opened by internationally exhibited artist Sally Horton at 6pm on April 3, at the hall.
The exhibition will be open on Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5 from 10am to 4pm in the Hannam Vale hall.
Art is the Vale is organised by a group of local artists and the Hannam Vale hall committee and “is an opportunity for artists and their communities to come together to celebrate their creative endeavours.”
There will be two prizes for viewers’ choice awards and all works will be offered for sale.
The money raised over the weekend goes towards Hannam Vale hall.
