Some quilts have interesting tales to tell, including one quilt started in the 1980s by Lydia Overton. Due to ill health Lydia was unable to complete the quilt and handed the unfinished project over to her daughter, Maxine Bailey.
Twenty years later Maxine took on the challenge to finish her Mum's quilt, and she has titled the beautiful result "Mum and Me".
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their favourite quilt, with the maker of the quilt to receive the People's Choice Award and a voucher donated by fabric shop Country Pickin's of Taree.
One stunning quilt valued at $1,500 will be first prize in a raffle with proceeds going to the Oncology Unit at Manning Hospital.
The quilt is on display at the Craft Cottage, with tickets available at all craft centre outlets, and at Noni B and More than Gifts in Taree Central Shopping Centre.
The Craft Cottage is located on the corner of High and Pulteney Streets Taree and doors will open from 10am to 3pm, finishing at 1pm on the final Saturday. The cottage is not open on Sundays.
Admission is $3 and morning teas and light lunches are available at The Cottage Cafe. Enquiries to Kerry Wakely, Coordinator, on 6556 0265.
