The heartbreaking decision was made so they could focus on the health and wellbeing of co-owner Fiona Fox.
According to a post on the sanctuary's Facebook page, Fiona will undergo three more weeks of chemotherapy to treat brain cancer.
She will then have a break for a month followed by six more months of chemotherapy.
"We simply cannot predict how her health will be in the coming months," said co-owner Sharron Woodward.
"Since Fiona’s diagnosis, she has been living with her mother and stepfather in Newcastle. I took a few weeks leave from my job and now Kane, Fiona’s son, has given up his home in Newcastle to live here so that we have someone here 24/7 with the animals.
"We’ve been blessed that four of our fellow sanctuaries have generously offered to rehome all of them. We know they will all be safe, cared for and loved.
Sharron went on to thank the supporters of the sanctuary.
"From day one you have shared our journey. You have encouraged and supported us. We are so very sorry to be saying goodbye but we must."
