Forster Bowling Club president Alby Dean welcomed Zone 8 president Charles Fisher and handed the club over to him. After the Ode and the calling of the cards, 110 bowlers took to the greens under leaden skies. One shower of rain lasting 10 minutes sent the bowlers back into the club and when that cleared the morning bowls continued
The usual refreshments were enjoyed by some of the bowlers as was the usual banter, and at 12.30 all bowlers descended on the club and adjourned to Danny's Chinese restaurant for a great smorgasbord.
With the meal completed all bowlers and the ladies auxiliary adjourned to the main auditorium for the presentation and drawing of the raffle.
All present were given background to Bill Taylor who was a founding member of Zone 8 and a great supporter of RSL bowls.
Presentation time came and the winners were: J Richards, S Deery and S Pell from Bulahdelah Bowling Club; B Hokin, B Nothey, T Gutterson and R Young from Taree Rail/ Leagues Bowling Club and S Knott, J Lee and C Fisher from Taree Rail Bowling Club.
The winners of the Bill Taylor Triples were M Williams, J McCartney and R Eldridge from Lake Cathie Bowling Club with a winning margin of +33.
So once again Zone 8 thanks Forster Bowling Club for their effort. The green staff had the greens in great order considering the amount of rain that had fallen prior to the game. Many thanks also to the bar and kitchen staff.
