THE 2015 Group 3 pre-season rugby league competition began on Sunday with the Wingham Tigers playing the Forster Tuncurry Hawks at Harry Elliot Oval at Tuncurry.

In a tough match, Luke Steel stepped his way through the defence to score midway through the first half.
New recruit Ryan Gilkinson added the extra points for a 6-0 lead.
Minutes later, Shannon Ellem forced his way over the line.
Ryan Gilkinson converted the try to give Wingham a 12-0 advantage.
As half time approached, Nick Beacham added another Tigers try which was converted for an 18-0 lead.
Seconds from the break, the home team scored making the score 18-4.
From the second half kick-off, the Hawks regained the ball and scored under the posts to trail 18-10.
Ten minutes later, Adam Dale re-asserted the Tigers' advantage with a try after a 40-20 kick.
Two tries in the final ten minutes to Reece Slaven in the corner gave Wingham a 30-10 victory.
The Under 18s went down to the Hawks 12-0, with a converted try in each half.
It was a good hit-out for the young squad who will improve as the competition proper approaches.
