The heritage-listed property located at 40 Isabella Street has long been a very recognisable landmark in Wingham, and, just like Wingham House, this is only the fourth time it has been up for sale.
The two storey Victorian terrace house was built in 1883 by John Pollock, who later became the second mayor of Wingham.
John Pollock owned an iron works business in Isabella Street which made carts, buggies and farm equipment. He was also captain of the Wingham Rifle Club for many years.
John Pollock was later forced to sell the house, his blacksmith shop and a large store due to the depression of the late 1890s. He moved to his property on Racecourse Road and became a beekeeper.
The house subsequently became Swan's boarding house.
The six bedroom, two bathroom house is built of double brick, with high ceilings, hardwood floors and ornate cornicing. The doors and staircase are made of cedar.
Three french doors open out to the full length verandah which is accented with wrought iron lacework and timber balustrades. The view from the verandah takes in the Comboyne and Lansdowne escarpments.
The sale of the property is being managed by Elders Real Estate in Taree. You can view the property details and pictures of the interior at http://taree.eldersrealestate.com.au/residential/buy/property-house-nsw-wingham-610105.
The property will be offered for public auction on site on March 28.
