The 48 attendees were treated to a lunch which included prawns and oysters, with the shed “done up” appropriately, said president and coordinator Jim Wills.
“Everyone really enjoyed themselves,” he said.
“It went down really well.”
The Taree Men’s Shed developed following a meeting in January 2005 when a small group of men decided to adopt the relatively new initiative by beyondblue that looks to provide men with a place to socialise, network, make friends and share skills.
There are now over 1,000 Men’s Sheds across Australia.
Over the last 10 years the shed has continuously been involved in community projects, with men from all walks of life working together.
After operating from Railway Parade for several years the shed found a permanent home on Rifle Range Road.
Their latest ventures have included fixing public seating on Victoria Street and working with people with disabilities in their workshop.
