The sanctuary posted on its Facebook page on February 13 that Fiona will undergo a course of chemotherapy and radiation for quality of life.
Since then Fiona's story has touched the hearts of thousands through stories in the Huffington Post, One Green Planet and on NBN televsion.
Fiona told the news outlets how she had promised the animals of her sanctuary a forever home but now she fears for the future of the farm.
Fiona's friend and co-owner of Manning River Animal Sanctuary Sharron Woodward updated followers of the sanctuary's Facebook page this week by stating that Fiona will be home at Manning River at every opportunity during her intensive treatment schedule.
"Not only is it a sanctuary for the animals it will be hers too. A place for her to heal. A place for us to be together," said Sharron.
"Fiona is fighting every minute of every day. There are moments when I want to fall to my knees but I can't because she is smiling."
Sharron added that Fiona is focused on being as well as she can possibly be, both physically and emotionally.
"She is a strong woman, a determined woman and a wonderful woman too," she said.
A fundraising page has been set up on www.chuffed.org/project/fionafox to help Fiona and the Manning River Animal Sanctuary with financial costs during this difficult time.
