But in a curious twist, Lady Gaga has instead landed herself a role on a television series.
Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, will appear in the fifth season of American Horror Story, the producers have confirmed.
It does not start filming until later this year, and would be expected to air from around October.

There are few details about it, except that the full title of the season will be American Horror Story: Hotel.
Lady Gaga has had several small roles in films, such as Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and Machete Kills, however this is the first time she has signed up for what is, essentially, a lead role.
American Horror Story was created by Ryan Murphy and changes its setting, character and storyline every year, though there are a number of actors who have played different roles in different seasons.
The series airs on the US network FX. In Australia, the Ten Network has the rights to the series.
Lady Gaga also has a planned tour this year with the legendary Tony Bennett, with whom she collaborated on an album.
