Inter zone carnival
On Wednesday February 18 bowls moved into another gear with the annual inter zone carnival being played at Raymond Terrace BC.
This carnival is played each year between Zone 5 from the Central Coast, host Zone 6 from Newcastle area , Zone 8 from Forster / Tuncurry / Taree area and Port Macquarie clubs with Lake Cathie and North Haven and Zone 7 from Coffs Harbour area to Grafton and Yamba.
In all 104 bowlers are on the greens for one game on Wednesday and two on Thursday.
After the completion of the last game a presentation dinner is held and all the trophies are awarded.
The winner of this year’s round robin was the host zone Zone 6, with three wins.
To Zone 6, I am sure that all players and supporters were well and truly looked after and had a great time, once again congratulations to Zone 6.
Each Zone has a trophy for the best performed team and Zone 8 winners were, J Black, G Morris, D Penman and skip S Wilson, to those players well done, three wins from three games was a great result.
So another Inter Zone carnival comes and goes, maybe next year when the carnivals host is Zone 5 on the Central Coast , Zone 8 can improve and bring home the goodies, until then all players who played this year well done, we know just how strong the bowls and competition is but we will be there.
Until next time, good bowling, Richard Bailie-Mace, Zone 8 bowls organiser / publicity.
