THE wet weather we’ve had due to the cyclone up north has made a big dint in most sporting fixtures over the week-end.

The cricket at Brisbane had to be cancelled which was a shame as it robbed both sides of the opportunity of gaining winning points from the game.
Instead, I believe, they shared the points which put them at a disadvantage to any other countries in the competition which had the chance to play.
I’ll bet Micheal Clarke was not a happy chappy.
As a result of the rain I have no results for the local team either.
Sorry cricket fans.
However, the old saying “lovely weather for ducks” was brought to mind as I drove home from shopping on Saturday and had to stop twice as two groups of wild ducks crossed the road, one on Gloucester Road and one on Nowendoc Road.
I suppose I could have just kept going but decided my car had just had its undercarriage washed by the puddles I’d driven through as I went in and out of town and didn’t want to risk getting it yucky again if I could miss the potholes on the drive home.
Good sleeping weather, good weather for farms, dams and local tank water supplies, though, don’t you agree?
Not so crash hot for washing school uniforms and having children underfoot, though, was it mums?
Here’s hoping it has cleared and dried up for the Comboyne Show and goat races next Saturday, February 28.
It should be a great day out for any family looking for something to do next Saturday.
I notice that there will be equestrian events held on the Sunday, 29th so it has must have a busy program.
School of Arts news
THE inclement weather has put the brakes onto the painting of the hall, worse luck.
I must admit, though, the front is looking much cleaner and neater since the painters came on the scene.
I’ll guarantee the trust members are chomping at the bit for an improvement in the weather so it can be completed.
School report
MANY thanks to the people who turned up to work in the school garden on February 12.
Whilst it won’t make much of a difference to the Life Education Van visit to the school it is to be hoped the weather is warmer and drier for the Zone Swimming Carnival on Wednesday.
Good luck to all pupils from all schools competing there-in.
