WITH all the beautiful rain over the past few days, not a great deal of golf was played after Friday.

As a result this will be a shortish write-up this week.
Onto the golf and we start with the Wednesday veterans.
Wednesday veterans
FIFTY eight veterans played a single Stableford this week with former Taree United player Alan Thompson the winner with 41 points.
Alan beat the fast finishing David Homewood by a point.
Former Canterbury Bankstown “berrie” Peter Tait was third with 38 on a countback.
OBE winner was “young” Merv Marsden with a modest 27 points.
NTP’s were won by Geoff Swaffield on the 3rd/12th and Col Sayers on the 7th/16th.
Wednesday ambrose
A FAIR field of 44 players enjoyed fine conditions last week with scoring down on previous weeks.
Best on the day was the “Family Ties” group captained by young Matt Primmer.
It was a big week for Matt as he also got married last Saturday.
Congrats to you both.
Half a shot away was the “Chequered Bobcat” team captained by Steve Welch, and one twelfth of a shot back was the third placed team of “Nobody’s”.
Andrew Stone” won the NTP on the third hole.
Beth Braham won the port and Earle Braham won the $10 club voucher.
Thursday LJ Hooker
THURSDAY saw some quite unusual scoring in the weekly chook run, with just two players scoring 23 and 22 points respectively and just about the rest of the field getting 19 points (or less).
Best of the lot was Rex White with 23 points (he had a good scorer) with club captain Neville Blanch second with 22 points (a par round).
Of all the players on 19 points (about six), Ian Scarr emerged from the pack to claim third spot on a countback.
For the third week in a row, James Urquhart from the club restaurant was beaten in a countback.
Hang in there James.
NTP’s were won by Col Tubby on the third and Dave Andrews on the seventh.
The race for this month’s LJ Hooker umbrella is a good one with only nine players playing each round.
Of those James Urquhart is leading with 57 points, followed by Rex White 55, Ken Squires 54 and Jim Clarke 53 points.
Good luck gentlemen.
Friday ladies
THE Friday ladies enjoyed the overcast conditions just before the rains fell and some good scoring resulted in Chris Cavanagh winning the day.
Chris won from Pat Marcus, Narelle Smith (again, that Greg is sure one “hell of a coach”), Margaret Earley, Jan Ditton and Cheryl Andrews.
Cheryl also won the NTP and the best long marker was Connie Gates.
Coming events
WITH last week’s round in limbo, this week’s event is as per the program, the “Wingham Beef Exports” single Stableford.
Also a big reminder to all players involved in the “Specsavers” handicap matchplay knockout that the first round MUST be played by the end of play this Saturday February 28.
There were no pennant games last weekend with the round washed out.
The previous week the division four team had a whitewash win six nil over the usually strong Port Macquarie team.
Well played lads.
Good luck and good golfing.
