The project includes the demolition of the existing timber bridge and the construction of a new concrete structure.
The works are delivered as part of the $11.4 million jointly funded Greater Taree City Council and Federal Government Taree Roads and Bridges package.
Works are expected to continue for a period of six months, weather-permitting.
The bridge will remain open to traffic with reduced speed limits and possible short delays for the majority of the project.
A 10 day bridge closure will be required toward the end of the project to allow the on-alignment replacement of the existing structure.
Greater Taree City Council will continue to work with directly affected residents to ensure minimal disruption during the works.
