Wingham’s Jay Wisely, Tim Lambkin and Tyneeka Lakeman are hauling two VQ Statesmans, with the grand titles of Sir Jay and Sir Tim, to compete in the burnout competition.
Tim has been competing in burnout competitions for the last two years, and last year won the Burnout Mafia Nats at Tamworth.
Jay has only been competing 12 months, and when asked if she would be driving, Tyneeka grinned and declared “I wish!”. So for now, Tyneeka is a team member and Tim’s manager.
It is not a cheap sport. Each burnout, lasting only two minutes, costs approximately $250, “and that’s just if nothing breaks,” said Jay.
And local enthusiasts have to travel quite a way to compete. The closest burnout pads at Eastern Creek in Sydney to the south, and north to Raleigh, near Coffs Harbour.
Fortunately the team is sponsored by Wingham Tyres, Exhaust & Suspension Service, Wingham Computers, PT Transport and PT Trade Supplies in Taree, and DC Maintenance are helping out with a car trailer to transport the cars to the show.
