The NSW Government released the 30 events chosen across NSW this week.
The Regional Flagship Events Program supports and nurtures a range of unique events that encourage people to visit the NSW regions throughout the year.
John Barilaro MP, minister for small business and regional tourism, says the recognition is a wonderful result for the event and for the region.
"It is such a reward to be chosen as a Flagship Event, it means the Tourism Industry of NSW believe in what we are doing, and that is so encouraging !" says Donna Ballard, festival coordinator.
The title of Flagship Event brings with it funding to be used for marketing and advertising the Akoostik Festival to a wider audience.
Donna is delighted with the boost to funds, and is already making plans to launch the marketing plan that was submitted to Destination NSW.
She says "We really need to get the word out far and wide that the festival is a music lovers feast, to bring tourists to our beautiful valley, to see what we have on offer and to stay longer and take in all we have around us".
Plans are well underway for 2015 with dates set for October 16, 17 and 18. Some headline acts have already been confirmed and workshops in music development are being arranged. Original music is the the heart of the festival's philosophy, if you are interested in volunteering at the event or arranging a market stall please email the committee at hello@akoostik.com.au.
