IT has not been a very good year for third grade cricket so far with Wingham finishing second in most of their matches this season. However, there has been some great individual efforts throughout the season from both the older blokes and our juniors in the side.

Bruce Bird has been a bright light in a dark season as well as Sleepy Thompson and Darryl Johnston who continue to improve with their batting.
But the highlight of the season came on Saturday when young firebrand Josh Essery took a stunning hat trick in his second spell. Testimony to his accuracy is that he bowled all three batsmen. A good idea when you consider how bad we catch, joked skipper Leigh Niven.
