It's coming to something when even the politicians are sending out brochures for the summer months telling us how to take care of ourselves and to prepare our homes Many thanks, Mr Stoner, for your Stay Safe This Summer information leaflet which came with our mail last week.
Cricket report
MOUNT George played Wherrol Flat - Leagues at Taree last Saturday and I have it on report that it was rather hot out on the field but the boys enjoyed it very much. No wonder, though, as they came away with the points on the day. The final result was a 203 to 188 win for Mt George. Well done in the heat, boys.
Wicket takers were M King, D Selmes, A Urquhart and R Arnold who each captured two wickets. When fielding R Arnold, D Selmes, N Selmes and N Mylonas each took 1 catch while B. Solomon managed 3 catches and a stumping. Our highest scorer for the day was I. Solomon who batted right through the innings and was 120 not out at the end. I'll guarantee he needed sustenance at the end of the match after that effort! M. King managed 50 runs in the heat and N. Selmes made 38. Very respectable efforts under such hot conditions.
School news
I HOPE it was a few degrees cooler at Elands last Friday for the science day our pupils attended there. On December 9 the pupils will attend the Red Cross Christmas party after recess as per usual. This year this visit will be their dress rehearsal as the presentation day is on later that week, December 11. Many thanks to the pupils and teachers for doing this each year for the Red Cross.
Wedding anniversary
ANNIVERSARIES are thick on the ground this week. Wendy and Eric Wilks, Jodie and Steven Mills and Sharon and Kevin Ford all celebrate another year in double harness this week.
Birthday wishes
MANY happy returns go out to our ex-principal, Ian Herd and to Chris Boyd (ex-Mount Georgian). They are the only two on my list for this week.
Remember, please, if you think someone in your family deserves a mention on his/her birthday or some other special occasion just drop a note in the letterbox at 1576 Nowendoc Road or ring 5660 6418 and I'll do my utmost to remember them next time they have their special day.
