Shopping is about good old fashioned customer service and a strip of individual shops with heart.
Wingham will be bustling this Saturday as Isabella Street takes a step back in time and invites Manning Valley residents to enjoy a traditional shopping experience.
Shoppers are encouraged to dress up for the occasion with a nod to a different time.
"It will be like the old days," said Donna Carrier of Bent on Food.
"There was a time when you used to dress up to go shopping and a lady always wore her hat."
The idea first came about when Donna and local shop keepers Nicky Stevens and Marcia Bourke were having a chat.
They were discussing ideas to inject a little fun into Saturday shopping.
One of the ideas they came up with was for garage sale stalls to bring a greater buzz to the street.
Like years gone by when traders would merge on a town to sell their wares, Donna said stalls would add colour and variety to the day.
With large back yards behind Bent on Life and Ashlea Road Boutique, Donna said people can come and pitch their marquee and sell their unwanted products.
"We want to brighten up the street," she said.
"It will also give shoppers an opportunity to buy Christmas presents that are a little bit different."
Wingham boasts an enviable and eclectic mix of shops with retro wares, fashion boutiques, shoes, homewares and books.
There is a variety of cafes to choose from, so morning and afternoon tea will be well and truly taken care.
There will be tastings at Bent on Food and Donna will also be holding painting demonstrations with the new range of Annie Sloan paints.
The historic buildings and traditional high street in Wingham make it a perfect backdrop for a vintage shopping day.
There is also all day parking for the classic car!
"We're a heritage town and the idea of a heritage shopping day is the perfect fit," said Donna.
