Ron Hindmarsh, whose property was one of the three open to the public, said they had 550 people through the gate, which was amazing considering the heat.
The scarecrows from the three Wingham primary schools were very popular and delighted many, and the votes for the favourites were so close that the Rotary Club decided, in fairness to the schools, to award each of the schools $100.
Ron said the kids did a great job and put a lot of effort into their scarecrows.
Mr and Mrs Bob Coleman of Cundletown were the raffle winners, with the prize being a coffee table made out of forestry timber.
The lucky gate prize, being one of Ron Hindmarsh's paintings worth $250, was won by David and Yvonne Chaffey of Old Bar.
While most of the comments from visitors were favourable, there were some that the venue was difficult to find due to a lack of signage.
Ron wishes to apologise to those who had difficulties finding the gardens, and explained that due to GTCC rules and regulations, signage was not allowed.
On a more positive note, there were plenty of enthusiastic responses, and Ron said that they had people comment that it was nice of the Rotary Club to include the kids, and get them involved and interested in gardens.
With entry fees, and good sales, they raised around $5600.
The majority of the funds raised will go toward the three Wingham primary schools, youth activities and community projects.
Ron wishes to thank everyone who came and visited the gardens, and the schools and children who participated in the scarecrow competition.
