Scoring was quite high with a lot more run than previous weeks.
Best on the day was Paul McMahon with a fine round of 43 points.
Paul won from several players on 41 points, including wayne Lewis who won C grade on a countback from runner-up in that grade, Steve Wheatley.
In other grades, Alan Overuliet on 38 points won A grade from runner-up Craig Harrison and Gary Croucher won B grade, his 40 points edging out Terry Grant on 39. Balls went out to 36 on a countback with Cam Darby the final recipient.
Richard Dudgeon scored an eagle three on the par five eighth and collected five balls.
In the Drummond Golf Challenge Craig Harrison was a clear and deserved winner by a considerable margin.
Well done Craig and I am glad his Saturday form is better than his Thursday play (he knows what I mean).
Nearest to the pins were quite exceptional with almost all under one and a half metres.
“Shot of the day” went to Peter Tait with his shot to win the 3rd/12th hole.
Barry Brown also hit a good one to win the Wingham Plaza Butchers 1st/10th, Steven Foy did likewise to win the 4th/13th All About Conveyancing hole, Jason Griffis won the Bayview Seafoods 7th/16th and finally Gary Croucher was the winner of the Bent on Food 9th/18th hole.
Wednesday Veterans
A GREAT field of 58 veterans turned out for an individual Stableford and boy was scoring hot.
Gordon McClusky “turned back the clock” when he returned a 47 points and clear winner by a whopping five shots.
Ian Davy was second with a “modest” 42 points beating third placed John Thompson on a countback.
Barry Hodgson won the NTP on the 3rd/12th and Brian Roberts was not far away from a “hole-in-one” in winning the NTP on the 7th/16th.
Wednesday Ambrose
ANOTHER good field of 62 players enjoyed fine conditions midweek with scoring a little down on previous weeks.
Winners, finally, were members of the “Below Par” team captained by Clare Cattell by three sixteenth of a shot from second placed “Wanna Bees” (Graeme Styles), Manning Smash Repairs (Mitch Saxby) third and “Wardies” (Jason Fowles) in fourth spot.
Again as in previous weeks less than a shot separated the first five teams.
Nigel latham was the day’s sharpshooter winning the NTP on the third hole, and Scott Brown won the port and generously donated it to the players in the club.
Let’s hope Scott wins again soon.
Thursday LJ Hooker Chook Run
AN improved field of 28 players struggled with the course Thursday with 20 points the best on the day.
That belonged to Syd Gilfillan with two players, Ken Squires and Barry Brown both on 19 points, Ken winning on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were won by Garry Stackman (again) with a great shot on the third and Craig Harrison “knocked off” Dave Andrews to win the seventh hole.
