COMMUNITIES in the Manning are set to be even more prepared for bush fires following an allocation from the 2014-15 NSW State Budget for a new fire truck, command vehicle and radio masts.

Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said the amount received will assist the Killabakh and Taree Rural Fire Service districts and comes from the 2014/15 NSW State Budget which has increased the NSW RFS allocation to $285 million.
“We welcome these additional funds which will help us continue to provide the highest standard of protection to communities throughout the Manning Valley area,” Mr Bromhead said.
In particular he said the new fire truck at Killabakh will greatly assist the RFS perform their wonderful duties in its area.
Added to this is the new command vehicle for the group officer and the radio masts for the Taree Fire Control Centre, which plays a major role coordinating activities across many local RFS districts.
“The NSW RFS is committed to ensuring our members have the equipment, resources and support they need to continue their important work.
“These new facilities will allow our volunteers to continue to be supported with the latest technology and equipment whilst they assist their local community in times of need.
“With the support of the NSW Government the NSW RFS will continue to work with councils to develop local projects throughout the Manning and Great Lakes areas to prepare for and protect people and property during the-fire season,” Mr Bromhead said.
