Christine Calabria said chamber and in particular past president Donna Carrier, have been working with Greater Taree City Council to try to resolve an ongoing issue regarding restrictions to what can be placed on footpaths and where.
In a letter to Isabella Street businesses, Christine re-iterates the solution council proposed some time ago to allow Wingham Chamber, on behalf of its members, to apply for Developmental Approval to allow items in certain areas of the Isabella Street footpath.
"We are now at a point where unless we can show wide support for this initiative all the hard work and negotiation on your behalf will be wasted," said Christine in her letter.
Businesses that are financial members of the chamber can show their support for a vibrant Wingham CBD by identifying a preferred area in front of their store and filling in a simple form, said Christine.
Once approved a simplified licence application will be required by council.
All fees for this licence have been suspended at present so Christine is urging members to get in before the situation changes.
Several chamber committee members are on hand to help businesses through this process.
