Whizzy and his helpers will be attending seven storytime sessions as part of MidCoast Water’s extensive program to raise awareness about water saving issues during the national event.

Each year Whizzy visits preschools, childcare centres and small schools across the region – this year he will make more than 80 visits – and for the second year he has incorporated library events in to his schedule.

Whizzy entertains the children through song and dance, imparting important messages about saving water.

“Turning off the tap is the easiest way for our kids to save water,” Whizzy explained – and it is this idea he preaches during his visit.

Preschoolers will be read a story about how we can all help save water, before having a visit from the giant waterdrop. Whizzy will visit the following storytime sessions:

Whizzy and MidCoast Water councillors and staff will also be visiting a number of local primary schools to present prizes to students who took part in the annual colouring in and design competitions – hundreds of entries were received from schools around the district, with more than 100 prizes to be distributed.
