Baker told the audience at the group's presentation night that he will be standing down. He returned to the first grade coaching ranks after a decade's absence and took Wingham to the semi-finals where they were considered unlucky to go down to Port Macquarie. The previous two years Wingham finished last. The Tigers enjoyed a revival this year, winning the pre-season competition before making the first grade play offs. Wingham also made the semi-finals of the under 18s and reserve grade.
Baker is one of the most successful coaches in Wingham's history. He led the Tigers to back-to-back premierships in 2002 and 2003 and the 2004 grand final.
