WINGHAM Rifle Club shooters fired from the 500 yard range and there was sensational scoring from A-grader Peter Thurtell who broke two records. Tony Galati also had an excellent score in F Class.

The weather made for fine sighting and this was reflected in scores achieved by some competitors who took advantage of the good conditions.
A-grade was won by Peter Thurtell with a first round of 50.8, second round a record breaking perfect score of 50.10 and a total of 100.18, that was another record.
Tony Moon had two terrific rounds for a total of 100.13, Steve Southwell 100.9 and Jim Blackmore with a great second round of 50.5 finished on 99.10.
Max Purnell won B-grade with 95.7, narrowly defeating Keith Gleeson 95.6, Barry White 93.5, and Frank Alcott 84.3.
F Class A-grade was won by Tony Galati with a fantastic second round of 59.3 for a total score of 115.6. Phil Costa followed with two strong rounds to fire 113.7. Chris Barnard followed on 110.8 then Rob Bartlett 107, and Mike Rogerson 104.1.
Gordon Higgins won F Class B-grade with a personal best for a good score of 112.4 followed by Bev Rogerson 105.3, Ronan Moon 103.2 and Warren Gray finished on 99.4.
Handicap trophy was won by Keith Gleeson.
Next week competition will be from 600 yards.
