Jay said he was beside himself with excitement upon hearing he had made the selections.

"It's probably the biggest one I'll ever go in," he said.

Jay has been doing burnout competitions since last year's Taree Show.

The sport can be a big dollar affair with Jay up against competitors who have spent upwards of $40,000 on their vehicles.

Jay's VS Commodore V6 cost him just $200.

He has been canvassing for sponsorship to get him and his car to Sydney Dragway and has had a favourible response from local businesses.

Wingham Tyres and Exhausts has come on board as a major sponsor and DC Maintenance has supplied a trailer for the day.

Other locals including McKeoughs Cake Shop have helped with money for fuel.
