This eagerly anticipated evening was a celebration of our local Virgos' birthdays and was organised by birthday girl Amanda for the whole community.
Guest musos "Raduga" (pictured) enthralled us with their fantastic eastern European folk and jazz with some luscious tango thrown in.
The talented trio pumped out the tunes with clarinet, accordion, acoustic bass guitar, lagerphone and kazoo, assisted by our own superlative Mitra on snare and djembe.
Additional percussion was provided by Raduga's multi-talented clarinetist/ lagerphonist Di, who tap danced on a specialised sound box throughout the sets.
Rob and Jewels were kept busy in the kitchen producing delicious pizzas for the mob, and our national treasure Jane Watson kept everything on track behind the counter all night.
Many, many thanks to Amanda for such a lovely gift to the community, and also to Raduga, who travelled on to Wingham on Saturday and enchanted a crowd at Bent On Food with their melifluous sounds.
Man's best friend also missed by woman
A HEADS up to all dog owners to be vigilant in your tick checking right now.
Spring usually brings ticks with it, but it seems that those pesky parasites are particularly virulent right now.
This week Elands lost one of it's most colourful canine identities when my family said a sad farewell to our wonderful, wacky, funny dog Missy brought down by a tick.
Our marvellous mutt was equally famous and infamous for her fondness for car wheels; an infatuation which seperated her from her waggly tail early in life.
She was obsessed with tennis balls and was a goofy and faithful pal who we miss tremendously.
Squirt on that Frontline, renew the old tick collar and check around the places those dogs can't reach so well, like the back of their ears and on top of their head.
Vale Missy good dog, thanks for all the unconditional love.
Gym-tastic Hari nails it
THE wonderful PCYC Gymaroos presented their annual showcase of talent at the Manning Entertainment Centre on Saturday and Elands was represented on stage by the amazing Hari Barker who turned in such a wonderful performance.
The whole show was a great success and credit to head honcho Sarah who put together such an entertaining format that elicited so many laughs and whoops of delight from the audience.
Hari's Mum Jenny was there cheering him on, and all the PCYC kids were a credit to the Gymaroos with their cheerful, enthusiastic partcipation in a wonderful event.
