Last week we all just managed nine holes before the heavens opened as they say and down it came. Being the last group out it was very challenging to putt out on the ninth, with a river of water covering half the green, but my playing partner managed it quite well.
Debbie Stewart while holding the umbrella in one hand, putted the ball some five metres straight into the hole.
Just brilliant!!!!!
Then the next week thunder storms were the highlight of the afternoon which had the last few groups scrambling in quick sticks.
Our newbie Narelle Smith had asked previously if we did play golf in the rain, which I said yes as that’s why it’s such great a game to play in all conditions except thunder and lightning - safety says no.
Narelle did finish early and won the day.
This week we had the start of our Wingham Smash repairs championships.
This is played over three weeks.
It was so good to see so much sunshine today, and lots of smiling faces.
It’s great for everyone to play and have a go.
We played for the Wingham Headlines monthly medal.
The winner today was Denise Blanch, closely followed by Narelle Smith.
Well done Narelle keep on keeping on.
Lots of other winners too with putting as well.
The best today was Beth Braham 27 putts.
The course is looking fantastic; we do like green not brown.
Nice to see the mowers out Dave and Stacky.
Well done to Jo Stinson with a great third place at country week in Sydney, cheers - a great result.
Next week we will continue on with the sunshine I’m sure.
See you there,
Denise.
