Father Keith Dean-Jones, in St Mark's chapel at Storm Village, will participate in a service to mark Storm Village's 25th anniversary at the Taree s Anglican church on Sunday.

A SPECIAL service will be held at St John's Anglican Church in Taree this Sunday (August 31) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Storm Retirement Village.

Members of staff and residents, together with all who have been associated with the village, are invited to attend the 9am eucharist.

The preacher will be the reverend Milton Fowell OAM, the foundation chairman of the board and former Anglican rector of Taree.

Storm Retirement Village was established from a bequest of Mrs Valerie Hughes, who died in March 1984.

From the proceeds of her estate, she had directed that an aged care facility be constructed in memory of her parents, Jane Elizabeth Storm (died 1941) and Edward James Storm (died 1964).

Work commenced at the Cowper Street site in 1989 and over the years a 62 bed hostel and dementia specific unit known as Storm Lodge, a 50-bed nursing home known as Milton Fowell Court and 18 self-care units have been established on the Chatham site.

A new Church of Saint Mark the Evangelist was built in 1991.

This beautiful church replaced the old church that was in Crescent Avenue.

The new church continues to serve the local community and Storm Village.

Bishop Tyrell Place at Cundletown is a 'child' of Storm Retirement Village and provides accommodation for 75 residents.

Both facilities provide high quality care in a Christian environment.

Storm Retirement Village has been an important provider of employment in the Manning region.

In July 2012, the Storm Retirement Village, along with Bishop Tyrell Place, became part of the Anglican Care network throughout the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle.
