ONCE again the weather prevented club members from getting out to have a fish on the ocean and just two members tried their luck in the river/estuary section with not much to show for all their effort.

Judy and Warwick Poynter, who have been absence for some weeks as they travelled the northern fishing spots in Queensland where they landed a couple of nice barramundi, were back home again and wet a line but they were only able to jag the little ones.

President Jack Muxlow welcomed 24 members and guests to the barbecue lunch held at the Wingham Rifle Club facilities and thanks to member Neil Miller who filled in for regular chef Derek Boughton who had been otherwise engaged at the Queensland Queen's Shoot at Belmont, Brisbane.

Assistant weigh master Chris Burdett didn't even have to connect the scales due to the lack of fish but he was a lucky winner of the Greenaway's Taxi service voucher.

Ron Sullivan was the winner of the club vouchers which were drawn by visitor Lorraine King from Tamworth.

A warm welcome was extended to the Madeley Family, dad Craig, mum Renee and children Kayla, Brock, Mason, Zac and Kade who have moved up from Sydney to reside in Wingham.

Club member Carol McGann was surprized by a birthday cake with candles, but it wasn't big enough to hold all the candles needed, and following the singing of Happy Birthday, Carol cut and shared the cake with all present.

Reminders announced by president Jack included the upcoming competition being conducted by Coopernook Fishing Club at the end of this month, the Laurieton long weekend for which payment is being taken and the broken propeller competition being staged by a collective of fishing clubs from Laurieton to the Manning that takes place over October 25-26-27.

Hopefully the second outing for August set down for Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 will be a better result for all.
