Accommodation in town is almost fully booked for the weekend, and schools are busy preparing their performances and demonstrations.
Project manager Sally Piracha, has shifted focus to the details of the eight events which are scheduled for the two and a half day celebration.
A practical progress meeting will be held at 3.30pm on Tuesday August 26 at Wingham High School, focussing on the very practical matters of what happens “on the day”.
The usual monthly meeting, where the finishing touches will be signed off, will be held on Wednesday September 10 at Wingham Public School at 4pm.
The Committee has appointed photographer Bill Collison to be available at each of the events, to ensure that the Sesquicentenary is well documented.
A special photo call is scheduled for midday, Saturday September 13, when former students and teaching dating back to the 1940s will gather at the Wingham Brush School, where the oldest remaining school buildings in Wingham are still in use.
Tickets for the official reception at the Wingham Services Club on Saturday night are available at the schools.
Former local state MP and head of the NRMA, Wendy Machin, who attended school in Wingham, will be speaking at the reception, and a special satellite link with Narelle Campbell at Davis Station in Antarctica is planned, technology permitting.
It’s not too late for locals to contribute any school memorabilia for display in the Hibiscus Room at the WSC and contact winghameducation150@gmail.com or Susan Ryan on 6553 5150.
Check out the Facebook page for a huge range of Sesqui merchandise to purchase online.
