HOLIDAYS are over for the school pupils but that has not done much to settle down the traffic flow on Nowendoc Road.

The residents here will be happy when the first causeway on Black Flat Lane is fully repaired and the detour through the town is no longer needed as we are not used to so much traffic and noise and Black Flat Lane users do not really appreciate the detour at present but they will enjoy a better trip once the causeway is repaired properly.
School has resumed and I guess all the "kids" are mentally revitalised and raring to go and that the teachers have had sufficient down time to recharge their batteries as well.
I look forward to getting the newsletters each time they come out so I can find out what kinds of interesting activities are planned for this term
RFS news
AT the AGM last week nothing regarding the executive or the field officers has changed.
Peter Melville is still the president, Paul Stringer is the vice-president, Ted Tubner remained secretary and nobody took Robyn Johansen's place as treasurer.
(Why does no one ever want the treasurer's job I wonder?).
Captain is Ray Nipperess, deputy captain is Ian Barbour, deputy one is Grant Parsons, deputy two is Ted Tubner, equipment officer is Peter Piorkowski and training officers are Ian Barbour and Ray Nipperess.
It is hoped we have another rather slow fire season in our area and that anyone who has the time and inclination gets in touch with one of the above and joins the brigade just in case more than the current number of members are needed.
Birthday rollcall
THE last of the Cancerian birthdays on my list for this year is Richard and tomorrow Leo roars in for this year and Meagan Smith is the first lion on the list.
Peter (Blue) Melville is next and he is followed by Owen Edwards, Justin Mills and Kathy Barbour and that concludes my list for July altogether.
Have wonderful birthdays each and every one of you and we hope you enjoy any celebrations your families and friends have planned for you.
If you have a family member, other relative or friend whose birthday you would like to have mentioned in this column just drop a note at 1576 Nowendoc Rd or phone 6550 6418 and let me know.
Children, particularly, often enjoy seeing themselves mentioned in the paper so please think about things and contact me if you wish to.
I'd be happy to help you in this area.
The Chronicle also runs competitions for their Chronicle Kid's birthday club members who register at the office quite often throughout the year and your child might like to participate.
Just contact the Chronicle office and leave the relevant details with the helpful staff there.
Sick bay
I'VE nobody on the list this week but all who are in hospital, having treatment at home or just "off colour," remember your family and friends are thinking of you and wishing you all the best even if they live a long distance away and can't get to see you.
Do as your doctors tell you and you'll be better a lot sooner.
