Official Opening of Hall Extension
THE culmination of a dream and many hours of fund raising and hours of filling out paperwork became a reality on Saturday afternoon when the Supper Room and renovated kitchen extension at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall was officially opened.

Some 63 people were on hand at the 3pm ceremony, when hall president Ray Flippence welcomed all and gave a brief outline of the work that had been undertaken with the help of a Federal Government grant of $75,000 and $25,000 State Government 2012 Community Partnership Program grant along with money injected by the hall committee before inviting Dr David Gillespie MP, member for Lyne to speak and unveil the two plaques commemorating the event.
GTCC Deputy Mayor Robyn Jenkins representing the Council was also present and added her congratulations and support of the project which had received some assistance from the Council as well.
Following the official proceedings, all present were invited to partake of a delicious afternoon tea which had been prepared and organized by hall catering officer Jenny Cherry and served by helpers Katie, Denyse, Lesley, Sharon and Jasmine.
Many photos were taken of the afternoon to record another part of the hall's history that has spanned over 100 years.
Malaysian Air Lines Crash
SYMPATHY, thoughts and prayers are with all the families that lost loved ones in the downing of Malaysian Air Lines flight MH 17 and we especially feel for the Clancy Family members of Taree and Tinonee.
Friend and long time member of Tinonee and District Red Cross, Tinonee Historical Society and Tinonee Friendship Group, Mrs Bev Clancy Aunt of Michael Clancy who along with his wife Carol (from Wollongong) were on board the flight, is feeling the loss of a beloved nephew and we extend our thoughts to her.
Red Cross 78th AGM
THE 78th AGM of Tinonee and District Red Cross Branch was held on Tuesday July 22 at the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts and I will have a full report on the meeting in next week's issue of Tinonee Topics.
Meanwhile several members of the Branch were present at the hall's supper room and kitchen extension opening held on Saturday last.
Choral Society Performance
THIS coming Saturday afternoon July 26 commencing at 2pm a performance of the Manning Valley Choral Society's "Magical Mystery Tour" will take place at the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall.
The afternoon is sure to be fun filled with singing, colourful costumes, magic items and a great time for all.
Cost of the afternoon is $10 for adults with concession for pensioners and children whilst the hall committee will be serving a delicious afternoon during interval for a cost of $5.
The performance will be the third in a series of four performances with the first two having been held last weekend at Killabakh and Cundletown.
Monthly Meeting
THIS Thursday evening July 24, the monthly meeting of Tinonee Historical Society Inc. will be held at the Tinonee Historical Museum commencing at 7pm when all members and interested persons are invited to attend.
Wingham Red Cross AGM
TINONEE and District Red Cross members Patron Neita Middlemiss, secretary Pam Muxlow and treasurer Bev Clancy represented the branch at Wingham Red Cross Branch's AGM held at Wingham Services Club on Monday July 14 which commenced at 1.30pm.
Congratulations to the new executive which was elected and sees Donna Anderson as president, secretary Anne Bennett and treasurer Lorraine McGrath filling the important roles of the branch.
Zone four representative Genie Williams conducted the elections and later pinned on the badges of all members accepting position within the branch.
Zone four rep Genie informed members of the latest happenings of the society including celebrations planned for the 100th birthday before the meeting was closed and those present then enjoyed a Devonshire afternoon tea.
