Sixty five bowlers took to the green and a crowd of more than 35 took part in the day's activities that included an auction and barbecue breakfast.
"It was a successful day and Dawby is very appreciative," said Alan Skinner, head of the day's organising committee.
More than $8000 was raised with the auction undoubtedly the biggest money spinner.
Alan said the big Tigers game the day before may have prevented a few people from attending the Sunday fundraiser.
"There's only so much money to share around," he said.
The weather was a little "bleak" also but all in all Alan is happy with the result.
"It was a great day and everything sold."
Dawby is a former player, coach and committee member with the Tigers.
He played more than 100 games for the club and still holds the record for the second most number of points scored in reserve grade in one season - 110 in 1974.
The committee will present Dawby with a cheque this week before he travels back to Sydney where he is currently living with his daughter.
Last week he got the all clear from the doctors but it has been a long journey for Dawby since he suffered a stroke eight years ago.
Raffle tickets are still available with the draw taking place on August 30.
First prize is two tickets to the NRL grand final along with accommodation.
Anyone interested in selling books of tickets can contact Alan Skinner on 6553 4623.
