The Vietnam War saw more than 50,000 young Australians serve in Vietnam over a period of eight years, between 1965 and 1972.
More than 500 died including five from the Manning Valley.
The mental traumas suffered during their service are still affecting many veterans.
The commemorative service to be held in Wingham coincides with the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, probably the most significant action in which Australian troops were involved.
Several local young men fought there and some will be involved in the service.
Men and women who have served in any capacity in the Australian Armed Forced are invited to come and share in the service, along with their families, and morning tea will follow.
