Tanzanian fabrics converted to quilt for fundraiser

THE Anglican Parish of Wingham is involved in a fundraising activity for the Church Missionary Society (CMS) and has a unique prize up for grabs.

The parish supports missionary, Liz Burns who lives and works in Kagera in the North West of Tanzania.

On a visit to Australia in 2011, Liz gave the women of the parish lengths of fabric which were hand dyed by the women of Kagera.

The brightly coloured fabrics were converted into a quilt which will be used to raise funds to support Liz in her work in Tanzania.

The quilt will be drawn this Friday at the soup and damper lunch which the Anglican women’s guild will host. The lunch commences at noon and will cost $10 per person for a delicious two course lunch.

The church offers people the opportunity to purchase a number between one and 200 for $5 to be in the running to win the quilt. All money will support Liz Burns and her continued work.
