WINGHAM Tigers hosted a great game against Gloucester Magpies with a supportive crowd of families. Tigers were just warming up when Cooper Walker stepped through Magpies, taking the team into the lead with the first try of the game. Great defence by Hayden turner, Kyle Buddle, Isayah Hughes, Mason Latimore, Braithe Tubnor and Logan Holden enabled them to keep the Magpies out and continue on their attack. A good solid run was made by James Swierczynski with a vocal support from the team and families. After some meters gained, Liam Andrews took the ball over the line and his hand in the air, for the second try of the game.
Tigers gained an advantage as Kyle Buddle kicked off for the 2/3, and bouncing the ball off a Magpies player enabling Liam Andrews to again pick up the ball to score for Tigers. Cooper Walker made some great runs, showing spirit and eagerness. Ty Yarnold made an awesome run, sprinting most of the field untouched, scoring again for the Tigers. Logan showed some his skill as he stepped through the Magpies defence and was tackled just before the line.
In the 3/3, Lincoln Cuthbertson stepped on the field and made a great try as he palmed through Magpie's defence, putting more points ahead for his team. With not much time to go, both James Swierczynski and Hayden Turner made a try each. These two boys showed great strength and stamina as they both in turn ran most of the field to make a try, and had the crowd right behind them. This weeks player of the match went to Cooper Walker.
Well done Tigers!
