Eye on women's bowls

At home:

THIS week is the third round of club major singles championship at Wingham Women's Bowling Club.

Results: L Gilford def L Cross 25/17; N Foy def D Lewis 25/18; K Carlton def D Polley 27/11; E Holden def C O'Donnell 25/17.

Social bowls: There was one game of fours and the result was - F Leadbeater (skip), B Kennett, G Burden, S Wolters 17 def N Sandford (skip), C Lockrey, J Nash, M Hollebone 12.

Tomorrow will be the semi-final of major singles and the draw is (reminder it's play or forfeit): L Gilford v N Foy (C O'Donnell); K Carlton v E Holden (N Sandford).

Also social bowls will be played.

Saturday morning bowls with Narelle

There were 11 players played in warm sunshine, in two games of triples for the cash and the results were: N Foy (skip), S Sontag, S Wolters 17 (who played swinging lead for a bet each way on this team) d D Mathinson (skip), D Polley, S Wolters 16.

The other triples games teams came away with a draw V Leeson (skip), P Weir, M Hollebone 17 D Bayard (skip), J Nash, C Lockrey 17.

Start: 9am in mufti dress (casual and flat soled shoes). Beginners - we would love to teach you the game of lawn bowls with this friendly bunch.

Special mention:

Last Thursday we held the Biggest Morning Tea, raising much needed funds in the fight against cancer. A special thank-you to all the people who donated cakes, slices and your kind donations towards this medical fight for a cure.

Open 2 bowl triples, $15 entry per player includes barbecue lunch, start: 10am in mufti dress (casual), Prizes worth $500 - winner and runner up prizes.

Sunday, June 22: nominated mixed pairs, $15 each/player includes barbecue. Prizes: $300 in cash prizes for first, second and third places.
