Sunkissed garden party
THE morning of Mothers Day in Elands looked gloomy and overcast, with a fine mist of rain, but by midday the sun chased away the clouds and a beautifully warm and sunny afternoon smiled on the Elands Health Centre Garden Party. Though attendance was down on last year due to the initially poor weather, a stream of visitors and locals wandered through the beautiful grounds of the health centre and paused to sample the array of delicious delicate cakes and savoury dishes. A variety of free games were on offer including shuttlecock, boules and coits, and there was some stiff competition from local talents including Nessie and Tim Jones (pictured mid Boules game). Entertainment was provided by Sing Boularng with wandering accordion and flute as well, and Nina Thede had the children (and some adults) looking fantastic with her extraordinary face painting. Mark Worrall spun vintage discs all afernoon, giving the day an easy listening relaxed feel, and congratulations are extended to the hard working committee who organised such an enjoyable day.
