Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay has congratulated Ms Machin on her time as president and chairman, said her relationship with the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government had been collaborative and constructive.

"I commend Wendy Machin on her time as NRMA president and chairman and the strong relationship she has had with the government particularly with reforms including WestConnex, our Sydney Clearways Strategy and the nation's first Breakdown Safety Strategy," Minister Gay said.

"I am a friend of Wendy's but when an issue arose that impacted upon her members, she was never afraid to take it up with me quite forcefully," he said.

"Ms Machin was well placed to lead the NRMA having served as Minister for Consumer Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Roads and Assisting the Minister for Transport in the 90s.

"Her tenure has been a time of stability and growth at the NRMA and I wish her well in her role as deputy president where I am sure she will remain a great advocate for the motorists of NSW," Minister Gay.

Ms Machin, who has a property in the Manning, was the first female member of the National Party to be elected to NSW Parliament.
