Greater Taree City Council decided to allocate the cash from its sponsorship budget at its meeting on April 16.
Council's team leader tourism and public relations Donna Hudson recommended the sponsorship payment as the "event provides useful leverage for tourism, for promotion of our facilities and potential untapped markets."
The event is the first of five in the 'Single Track Mind Series'.
The seven-hour endurance rides are held in different locations throughout NSW and the ACT and are regarded as one of the premier endurance series. The race is tipped to attract 250 to 300 high calibre riders from around the state plus spectators and staff.
